Amateur radio special event station and free technical activities for all ages to celebrate the experiments performed by William Henry Preece at the start of the wireless communication revolution in the late 1890s. Coniston was the site of some of his experiments that involved wirelessly communicating across bodies of water.
This has become the club’s annual weekend away. Turn up and depart when you like but the itinerary will be something like:
- Friday evening - have a meal together in Coniston
- Saturday daytime - attend the event at the Ruskin Museum in Coniston
- Saturday evening - meal at the Black Bull in Coniston
- Sunday daytime - a social activity we can all enjoy
Arrange your own accommodation; some like to camp, some prefer a hotel/cottage, there’s also a local YHA that caters for all ages.
