Each year the Quantum Technology Club decamps to the Ruskin Museum in Coniston for the day to run a special event station using the callsign GB9WHP.
The museum very kindly allows us to run an amateur radio special event station there to celebrate the life and works of Sir William Henry Preece. Famous for supporting and promoting Marconi and his work, few know of the research Preece performed into wireless communication before the arrival of Marconi on the scene. Our special event station hopes to change that.

Quantum Technology Club at Ruskin Museum
You can find us, physically, around the back of the museum on their grassy display area. You can find our special event station, GB9WHP, on the air on 2m FM, beaming south down the valley towards Lancashire and North Wales, or on HF using 40m phone or FT8 on a variety of bands (HF-VHF).
In addition we run a series of technology demonstrations and activities, together with a Bluebird-themed Morse Code treasure hunt around the museum.
