Build a 2m Slim Jim antenna

On the 1st February the Quantum Technology Club will be holding its second Brickworks session of the year; building a simple but very usable antenna – a 2m Slim Jim.

2m Slim Jim antenna kit

The Slim-Jim is a classic antenna that can be used out portable on a telescopic pole, hanging from a holiday home balcony (EMF rules permitting), or more permanently mounted at home. It is much more efficient than the “rubber duck” antenna to found on your handheld transceiver and, when made from “ladder-line”, can be rolled-up and easily transported.

This kit includes everything you need to build the antenna with just a soldering-iron and a pair of wire-cutters and it’s a great project for any Foundation/Intermediate licence-holder or anyone wanting to get started in SOTA (Summits on the Air)< WOTA (Wainwrights on the Air), POTA (Parks on the Air), or any other portable activity that needs a quick and easy to erect antenna.

If you’d like to build your very own 2m Slim Jim antenna you can order your kit on our website and keep the 1st February in your calendar.

We have had a good response to our Antenna Building evening and have agreed with our supplier that we can extend ordering until the 24th January to guarantee delivery in time for the meeting. So make sure you have your order in by then as we’ll be placing any additional orders on the 25th to give our supplier time to assemble the kits and deliver them to us.
