On the 1st July, maker clubs and organisations from all over the country will converge on Liverpool Central Library for Liverpool Makefest 2023. This year it’s the 1st July and the Quantum Technology Club and Quantum Code Club will be there.
Last year we had pride of place on the stage and were able to fill it with all sorts of exciting wow-factor technology. We had our huge blocks game, a desktop four-in-row game, an amateur radio station, our massive projected gaming system, demonstrations of techno-crafting and our famous Morse treasure hunt.
Centre-stage at Liverpool Makefest 2023
This year we’ll be back for more – and we’ve got centre stage again. We just had to bigger and more more adventurous and wonderfully inventive members have not disappointed. We can’t reveal it just yet, but can promise that our centrepiece will certainly have more of the wow-factor we demonstrated last year. Many man-hours have gone in to making this a sensational project that will come to a conclusion within the next couple of weeks. Those involved in its design and construction deserve a huge pat on the back.
We’ll have the old favourites from last year, in case you missed them, and we’ll have a bigger techno-crafting demonstration with something you can purchase with your loose change to remember your day.
Featuring the Wales Digital Repeater Group
Finally, we have some stars of the amateur radio fraternity with us for the day. The Wales Digital Radio Group was established by a group of newly licensed amateur radio operators during lockdown. They’ve gone from zero to hero in three short years and are now one of the most talked about groups in the UK. The run some amazing nets were people from all over the world come together to talk about their hobby, amongst other things. They have linked all the major digital voice modes together and provided gateways to the Internet so that folk can communicate with other who are using digital modes. They’ll be bringing some kit with them to show how it is done and providing a link to the outside world from within a steel caged building.
