Youngsters on the Air (YOTA) is an initiative of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) for Region 1 (Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Northern Asia) that is designed to encourage youngster to become active in amateur radio.
Main YOTA activities
Each year, in December, the IARU runs YOTA Month during which amateur radio clubs throughout the region lay on activities to demonstrate amateur radio to young people and get them involved in a practical hands-on way. During the summer an International Summer Camp is organised which sees teams of five/six young licensed amateur radio operators from each country in the region gather together to have a week of fun, learning and experimenting with amateur radio related technologies.
YOTA 2017 International Summer camp
This year the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) is hosting and organising YOTA 2017, the IARU's International Summer Camp, at the national Scouts headquarters at Gilwell Park, London, from the 5th to the 12th of August.

The Quantum Technology Club, based at Cottage Lane Mission in Ormskirk, held its first ever meeting last night. The organisers, the Quantum Amateur Radio & Technology Society (QuARTS) said they were extremely happy with the turn-out, twenty five fold turned up and thirteen of them signed up for membership on the spot.
Those present enjoyed a hands-on introduction to the Raspberry Pi, presented by Derek (G7LFC), and a few other mini-talks on various subjects.
Whilst enjoying the free refreshments and slices of Pizza, the raffle draw took place which saw Barry (G4HDU) win the star prize of a new HF/VHF VSWR meter very kindly presented to the club mt by one of the UK's largest amateur radio dealers, Martin Lynch.
