An amateur radio and wireless communications open evening will be held at the Quantum Technology Club on the 5th March, 2026. The event will start at 7:30pm and there will be lots of hands-on activities available for visitors and members to take part in.
This is a great opportunity for those of you with an interest in either amateur radio, or wireless communications, to come along and see what the hobby is all about. It will also be useful for those of you that are thinking of undertaking, or who currently are, an amateur radio foundation course.
Available on the evening will be …
- A VHF radio set available for chats to be undertaken with local radio amateurs.
- An HF radio available for communicating digitally with amateurs in various countries around Europe.
- Hands-on setting up your radio station.
- A Morse demonstration where you can have a go at sending a sending and receiving a phrase.
- Hands-on tuning an antenna for best VSWR.
An amateur radio licence is not required to undertake any of the activities – even those involving transmitted. You will be supported by a licensed operator and guided gently through the activity.
Visitors are most welcome, there’s no need to be a member to attend.
There will be no subs payable this evening as this is an open evening. However, donations are always welcome. 🙂
