The Quantum Technology Club held their annual Christmas Quiz on the 7th December at their new venue in Aughton. We were pleased to welcome some of our friends from the Leyland and District Amateur Radio (LADAR) group too. Thanks for making the trip folks.
Christmas quiz
Iain organised the quiz, which has become a seasonal treat since the first one took place on-line during the Covid lock-down of 2020. We’re pleased to announce that the winner was, Mr Neopixel himself, Steve. He was rewarded for his extensive knowledge, of things he didn’t really need to know about, with a brand new set of screwdrivers to add to his already extensive existing collection. Enjoy!
Mince pies and seasonal mugs
The traditional mince pies, from Booth no less, made a showing and Rebecca was made some seasonal mugs for those that were prepared to cross her palm with silver – or whatever colour their plastic card was.
Secret Santa
The evening was rounded off with a Secret Santa. To take part members and visitors simply had to bring a suitably wrapped gift to donate to the present pool, from which participants then selected one to put under their Christmas tree back home. Hopefully nobody bought a really expensive present to try and get it past their partner – “No, I haven’t bought that new £5,000 amateur radio transceiver – it was in the Secret Santa at Quantum”. Flip, I’ve only just thought of that, why didn’t I think of that last week? Hmmm.
Bye-bye 2023, hello 2024
Anyway, that’s the Quantum Technology Club all wrapped up for 2023. Our next meeting will be on the 4th January – this month’s third Thursday (21st of December) is a bit too close to Christmas with all the last minute preparations that will be going on.
2024 will see the Quantum Technology Club’s move into its eighth year of existence – a significant milestone for a bunch of disparate techies, makers and crafters. This year we have lots of activities planned – so have a good look through the calendar and make a note of them now.
So from the members at the Quantum Technology Club, we’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. See you all on the 4th January with a session on Slow Scan Television (SSTV).
