On the 16th November the Quantum Technology ran its annual buildathon. Members either brought their own project along to work on, or availed themselves of one off the low-cost kits that we provided.
As well as the kits provided. this year members worked on a pixie kit and a Morse helper box.
The Pixie as a very popular, compact 40m (7MHz) transceiver. The board measures little more than a couple of square inches, provides the operator with around 800mW (+/-) of RF power features a crystal controlled oscillator for pretty stable frequency tuning. The mode of operation for this little miracle is CW and we look forward to hearing from Gary how it performs once he gets it on the air.
Trevor‘s Morse helper box will become an amalgam of projects that will prove useful when demonstrating Morse Code to folk. Including a morse oscillator and mini-audio spectrum analyser, amongst other things, this box of goodies will become one of our permanent displays at events we attend going forward.
